Walks at the Forest Ecology Preserve
Usually there is some kind of scheduled walks at the Forest Ecology Preserve. Check their website or call Jennifer Lolley at 334-707-6512 to find out when. The Preserve is located on N. College Street just past the A.U. Fish ponds on the right.

You can of course just walk the trails on your own any time the preserve is open. Currently that is from dawn to dusk 7 days a week.

The Auburn Stride Walkers Club
The Auburn Stride Walkers Club is designed for citizens who are interested in experiencing the various city walking trails as a group. Usually walks are held three mornings a week.

This program is open to all ages and is free to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring bottled water and wear comfortable walking shoes. Participants may walk at their own pace and distance. The Auburn Stride Walkers Club is a great way to have fun, make friends and walk your way into a healthier lifestyle. Walk schedules will be posted monthly. For more information, please contact Melissa Weldon at 501-2946, or Dee Watson at 501-2948. Walks will not be held on rainy days.

General Tips for Walking:

  • Find a friend to walk with, not only is it safer, but you are more likely to make the effort if you have arranged a walk with a friend.
  • Take your dog for a walk, same benefits as walking with a human companion
  • Wear comfortable shoes that support your feet.
  • Take a bottle of water with you, especially during the summer, and stay hydrated.
  • If you walk at night wear bright reflectors or lights to help drivers see you & always be careful to walk in safe areas and with a friend
