Someone worked overtime with some creative magic to make Hickory
Dickory Park. With towers, murals and secret hideaways this park makes you
feel like you walked into a storybook. Hickory Dickory Park is created in
sections for different ages, and is labeled appropriately to let you know
what age group is targeted for each area. The section for younger children
feature a wide slide, toddler swings, a wooden tractor, a tricycle
track, and a store front. The areas for larger children is packed with
things to play on under around and through.
There are cables to climb and walk on, spiral slides, and straight slides. You can find balance boards and monkey bars, and rings. There are regular swings, a tire swing and a zip line of sorts. And all the kids have no trouble finding the "secret" hideout underneath one play area.
If you are in the mood to picnic there
are plenty of picnic tables. There is also a large grassy area with room
to play frisbee, football, or some other yard sport. There is a water
fountain and restrooms on the premises. The ground in the play areas are
covered with those wood chips that seem to so easily get into shoes,
socks, and especially sandals so beware.
Another problem I have found with
bringing younger children to Hickory Dickory is that they never seem to
want stay to the areas designated safe for their age, and once get into
the larger areas you must either follow closely through the labrynth or
wonder where on earth you child is and just listen for clues.
