Food can be a major expense, but there are ways to cut
food cost (other than starvation). Knowing what specials are available at
area restaurants, how to save money on groceries, and some cheap meals
that you can prepare in a flash all add up to being frugal about food. By
paying attention it is possible to eat better while still staying within
budget.
Community Note:
The Food Bank of East Alabama helps to feed the
hungry in our area. Sometimes it's hard to be aware of the need
around us when we ourselves are fed, but according to the food bank
website more than 15 percent of Alabama residents live in poverty.
If everyone were to purchase just one extra can of food during their
grocery trip and donate it to the food bank, imagine how many people we
could feed. That's a pretty cheap way to help out the community.
